I consider the Barangay of Binongtoan as a magical stretch. This place has rich, diverse, and holds numbers of memory. Sadly and naturally almost all things are just timely forgotten.
Be that as is it may, history that are commemorated are of course impermeable of times ability to wipe, but even without those ceremonies some few are just greatly undying, like:
-The Legendary bell of Lingganay;
-The coinage of the town name "ALANG-ALANG"
-and being the town center decades ago.
Apart from those EPIC events, What makes Binongtoan stand out more is that one University of VSU is station here. Offering higher Education to fellow
Alangalanganons. It is really overwhelming when I think of those facts at the same time. No debate to that.
Very much over rated? Nah, just plain eloquent juicy truth. :D

Furthermore I asked a senior local on whats the meaning of the name Binongtoan and along with plenty of short stories of tatay I learnt that "Binongtoan" was derived from the word tinawohan - Birthplace. With an effortless rehash I to agreed on tatays translation. Original town mangud.
Still, What know is that I dont know on who was the person or people responsible naming this place Binogtoan. Maybe someone from barugo or from bicol.
By any means, I`l update this post if I got to hold unto that info. Sana. :D

Gateways to mainit.
si Pasokan at si Entrance. |
There are two entryways and exit-ways from the main road to Mainit and from mainit to the main road. I favored this path for its safer than the the other one. This route has a clearer, wider heading and goes along with the flow of traffic, but if you are adventurous, your a buwis Buhay type try the other one. Don`t blame me if you attain injuries . I warned you. :D
Seriously, the other path is dangerous when entering or exiting with a vehicle. However, If you are entering by foot any of the two passage will do, of course and always take precautions.

"The world is a dangerous place. Not because of the people who are evil; but because of the people who don't do anything about it."

"Its a wonderful world but not as safe as it may seem, so take precautions to avoid those malignant variables."-nakiki insert lang :D
Mainit Bridge.
Hindi ako yan. pramis. |
The bridge is very very far from the entrance and with 2 minutes of treacherous walk Mainit welcomed me with open stand. The view of the bridge was not that mind-boggling but the feeling up-close was definitely a site not to be belittled. As the famous tagline says, Siring pa man han transformer. "There`s more to you that meets the eye."
When I was under Mainit Bridge I couldn't help to appreciate the beauty of the lines and symmetry it holds. The architecture was singing out to get my attention -"Hey Intoy! take a photo of me. One time la". I have this fondness of lineament so I took one. :D
When I was taking the photo under the bridge, loud audible sound of thuds are prominent. Which is normal. Even so, It felt like I was being pressed with each time a mechanical user passes by. It Felt funny. My head automatically drops every time I heard one.

I wonder what does the old bridge looks like.
Mainit River
When summer was near, we always come here at Mainit. With my respected young entourage and cousins, we often time races towards the bank of the river to enjoy our most awaited freedom. I learnt how to swim here, learnt how to dive [somehow :D]. Won couple of swim race using the river bed and I accidentally drunk water at some point. ahah. It is such a calming memory to have. Well, whatever the state the river has, Mainit river will always be a part of my beloved youthful days.
Precautions, I asked a friend who lives nearby on why was the gate constructed.
Me : Ram, Why is that there`s a gate at the entrance of the river? It was not there years ago.
Ram : Well, they said it`s a block for people who tries to enter from there.
Me : ooh.. Why o y?
Ram : According to what I've heard, it says the entrance is dangerous to enter to because it`s located at a sharp curve, and based on experience its really not safe.
Me : ahh,sounds legit, ahaha.. tagay :D
Ram : And ooh just for you to know, uhmmm... midnight onwards, people near the river says that they sometimes hear cries of women and children wailing for help...
Me and rest of the boys : O_O
Ram : ahah.. Tagay ! ;}
